Member Terms of Service
These terms form the agreement between you and SeatFillers UK. By applying for membership and ticking the acceptance box on the application form, you agree to them. Please read them — they’re not long, and a few of them (particularly the attendance commitment and the no-show policy) are important to understand before you book your first show.

1. What SeatFillers is
SeatFillers UK is a theatre papering platform. We work with venue partners — theatres, production companies, and promoters — to make unsold seats available to our members free of charge, or for a small booking fee. In exchange, members commit to attending the shows they book, helping venues fill their houses.
Membership is not a subscription and does not guarantee access to any particular show or performance. Availability depends entirely on which venues are listing shows, how many tickets they have allocated, and how quickly they are claimed. We do not control any of this.
We are not a ticket agent, a promoter, or a reseller. We are a matching platform. The contract for your attendance at a show is between you and the venue.
2. Eligibility
To become and remain a member you must:
- be aged 18 or over;
- be based in the United Kingdom;
- hold only one SeatFillers account in your own name;
- be a genuine member of the public — membership is not open to theatre industry professionals seeking to attend shows in a professional capacity; and
- not be subject to a current suspension or ban from SeatFillers.
We reserve the right to verify eligibility at any point and to refuse or revoke membership if we have reasonable grounds to believe these criteria are not met.
3. Your account
When you apply, we review your application before granting access to the platform. Acceptance is at our discretion — we may decline applications without giving a reason, and this decision is final.
Your account is personal to you. You must not share your login, allow others to use your account, or create accounts on behalf of other people. Each person in your household who wishes to be a member must apply separately.
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. If you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else, contact us at hello@seatfillers.co.uk immediately.
You can close your account at any time by contacting us. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data when you do.
4. Communications
By becoming a member, you agree to receive emails from SeatFillers. These include ticket alerts when shows become available in your area, booking confirmations and reminders, and occasional updates about the service, new venues, and special offers.
These communications are a core part of the service — without them, membership has no practical value. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time using the link in any email we send, but transactional messages (booking confirmations, account notices) will continue for as long as your account is active.
5. How bookings work
When a venue makes tickets available through SeatFillers, eligible members can request to book. If your request is accepted, you will receive a booking confirmation by email. A booking is confirmed only once you have received that confirmation — a request alone does not guarantee a place.
The number of tickets available per member per performance is set by the venue and may vary. Unless otherwise stated, bookings are for one person. Additional tickets for guests may be available on some shows at the venue’s discretion.
Confirmed bookings should be treated like any other theatre ticket: arrive on time, bring your confirmation, and follow any collection or entry instructions the venue has given you.
6. The attendance commitment
This is the most important part of being a SeatFillers member.
SeatFillers exists because venues trust us to fill their empty seats with people who will actually show up. When you book through SeatFillers, you are making a commitment — to the venue, to us, and to the other members who might have taken that seat.
When you confirm a booking, you are committing to attend that performance. You should only book if you genuinely intend to go and have a reasonable expectation that you will be able to.
We understand that life happens. The system is designed to be fair, not punitive. But it only works if members take the commitment seriously — venues that experience repeated no-shows will stop listing with us, which means fewer tickets for everyone.
7. Cancellations
If you have booked a show and can no longer attend, please cancel as soon as you know. Cancellations made with at least 48 hours’ notice are treated as considerate cancellations and do not count against your attendance record.
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice are recorded as late cancellations. They are treated more leniently than a no-show, but a pattern of repeated late cancellations will be taken into account alongside no-show history when we review an account.
To cancel a booking, use the cancellation option in your dashboard or contact us directly. Please do not simply fail to attend without cancelling first.
8. No-shows
A no-show is when you do not attend a performance you have confirmed, and you do not cancel your booking in advance.
No-shows are managed on a rolling 12-month basis:
A reminder email explaining the attendance commitment and our no-show policy. No further action.
A formal warning. Your account remains active but is flagged for monitoring.
Your account is suspended for 30 days. You cannot make new bookings during this period.
Permanent termination of your membership. This decision may be appealed by emailing us within 14 days.
No-shows that occur as a result of a genuine emergency — a medical situation, a bereavement, or similar — will not be counted if you contact us promptly with a brief explanation. We will always use common sense when reviewing an account’s history.
After 12 months without a no-show, your record resets and any previous no-shows are disregarded for the purpose of the above scale.
9. Your ticket
Tickets obtained through SeatFillers are subject to the following rules without exception:
- Non-transferable. Your booking is in your name and is for you to attend. You cannot transfer, gift, or pass it to another person.
- No resale. Tickets obtained through SeatFillers are complimentary or subsidised and must not be sold, offered for sale, or exchanged for anything of value. Doing so is a serious breach of these terms and will result in immediate permanent termination of your membership. We reserve the right to report ticket touting to relevant authorities.
- Not for professional use. Attending shows in a professional capacity — for example, as a critic, industry scout, or for any commercial purpose — is not permitted using a SeatFillers booking.
10. At the venue
When you attend a show through SeatFillers, you are a guest of the venue. You must comply with the venue’s own rules, policies, and reasonable instructions from staff. The venue’s terms and conditions apply to your visit in addition to these terms.
SeatFillers is not responsible for your experience at the venue, the quality of the performance, the venue’s facilities, or any decisions made by the venue’s staff — including decisions to refuse entry. If the venue refuses your entry, please contact us so we can investigate, but we cannot guarantee admission on your behalf.
We ask that you represent SeatFillers well. Our ability to secure free tickets for members depends entirely on venues trusting us to send respectful, enthusiastic audiences.
11. Fees and payments
Most SeatFillers bookings are free of charge. On some shows, a small booking fee applies — this will always be made clear before you confirm your booking and you will never be charged without your explicit agreement.
Where a fee applies, payment is processed securely via Stripe. We do not store your payment card details. By completing a paid booking, you agree to Stripe’s terms of service.
Booking fees are non-refundable unless the show is cancelled by the venue or promoter. In that case, a full refund will be issued to the original payment method within 5–10 working days of the cancellation being confirmed.
12. Show changes and cancellations
Venues and promoters occasionally need to cancel, reschedule, or make changes to shows. When this happens we will notify you as quickly as we can using the contact details on your account.
SeatFillers has no control over show cancellations or changes, and we are not responsible for any costs you incur as a result — including travel, accommodation, or other arrangements made in anticipation of attending.
If a show you have booked is cancelled, your booking will be removed and any booking fee paid will be refunded. If a show is rescheduled to a date you cannot attend, please cancel your booking so the seat can be reallocated.
Nothing in this clause affects any rights you may have against the venue or promoter directly under consumer law.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your membership if you:
- breach these terms, including the no-show policy;
- provide false information when applying or at any later point;
- hold more than one account;
- resell or transfer a ticket obtained through SeatFillers;
- behave inappropriately towards venue staff, other members, or SeatFillers staff; or
- do anything else that we reasonably consider to be harmful to SeatFillers, its venue partners, or other members.
Where possible we will give you notice and an opportunity to respond before taking action. In serious cases — such as ticket resale — we may suspend your account immediately and investigate afterwards.
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Closure does not affect any confirmed bookings you already hold, though your access to the platform will end.
14. Our liability
SeatFillers is a free membership platform. To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited as follows:
- We are not liable for any show being cancelled, rescheduled, or materially changed by a venue or promoter.
- We are not liable for your experience at a venue, including but not limited to entry being refused, facilities being unavailable, or the quality of the performance.
- We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses — for example, travel costs incurred for a show you were unable to attend.
- We are not liable for any loss arising from temporary unavailability of the platform or its features.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these terms.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the version date above. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect and give you the option to close your account if you do not wish to accept the new terms.
Continuing to use the platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If any dispute cannot be resolved between us directly, you and SeatFillers both submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are based in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction.
